U svojoj 40 godina dugoj karijeri prodao je preko 100 miliona muzičkih izdanja.
Rođen je kao Prins Rodžer Nelson u Minesoti i vlasnik je sedam Gremi nagrada, Zlatnog globusa i jednog Oskara.Uvršten je u Rokenrol kući slavnih 2004. godine. Magazin „Roling stoun“ ga je postavio na 27. mesto svoje liste „100 najvećih izvođača svih vremena“.
